Drop Inn Center To Move

I was checking out Nick Spencer's blog and I read an excerpt from a Cincinnati Post article.

"Council members said they were concerned that 15 percent of all arrests were related to residents from the Drop Inn Center homeless shelter at 12th and Elm streets.

Vice mayor James Tarbell said this proves the center is "not in harmony" with the neighborhood and needs to be moved.

Council member Leslie Ghiz echoed that sentiment, and said Council within a few weeks would take action affecting the nearly two-decade old social service agency."

It appears that this city is about to have a serious discussion about concentrating social service agencies in any one neighborhood. The chronic homeless are the big problem. Some of these are people that would have been in a state mental institution prior to deinstitutionalization. Others are chronic homeless because of addiction. A good deal of them have both.

If they move the Drop In Center out of OTR they won't be able to put it in a neighborhood setting. Any community would go ballistic. It is a tough sell to get people excited about batshit crazy mofos wacked out on drugs, and convicts fresh out of jail. What a boon to development.

3CDC and the Drop Inn Center were never going to peacefully coexist. This has been in the cards for quite some time, and it shouldn't surprise anyone.

The question is where do you move the Drop Inn Center?

I think the State should start reopening psychiatric institutions so that sick people don't have to live on the streets. I would rather send people to get the care they need then send them to jail. That isn’t about to happen now however.

As for the location on the new Drop Inn, I am thinking that Queensgate is going to get a pretty good look. You can naturally barricade in the crazies on three sides with the Expressway (US 50), the Ohio River, and the beautiful Mill Creek. You get excellent containment with Queensgate, and nobody lives there.

Another location I have heard before is some of the older industrial sections of Spring Grove. The advantage of this over Queensgate is that land and development potential in Queensgate is higher than Spring Grove in my opinion. Spring Grove also has some nice barriers where it is nestled right in between I-75 and the train yard. Khans just closed the pig plant. You could make the meat house into the nut house.

Something big is in the air. Over the Rhine has been destroyed with decades of human dumping. We can’t use the OTR template to destroy another neighborhood, because simply moving and copying what has already failed will only result in more failure. This city has a chance to change direction with this situation. What happens here and now is going to echo back for a generation. Please choose wisely.

Update: Controversy Brews Over Plans To Move OTR Halfway House

This item isn't about the Drop Inn Center, it is about the Pogue rehabilitation center which is run by the Volunteers of America. They are looking hard at Queensgate.

"Cincinnati city council member Chris Monzel says he wonders if it's a move to bring in more sex offenders as clients.

The Pogue Center handles ex-offenders who are homeless and have multiple disabilities.

That includes 61 sex offenders who are being treated there right now.

Half have been sent to Cincinnati from other parts of the state by the Ohio adult parole authority.

That's why the city council member is raising a red flag."

Lets give a round of applause to Monzel for raising the question. What the hell are we doing importing sex offenders into our urban core. Stop the madness.

"President Chris Lohrman, of Volunteers of America, says a Queensgate site between downtown and the Mill Creek would provide enough land for a new social service community."

Notice the words Mr. Lohrman choose. He isn't talking about moving to a new building, he is talking about an entire social service community.

It sounds like something big is in the works.

Male Dallory got into my Dale4Sale private stock photos of Dale for the first picture. Guess you did not like his new look with the Turtle Wax pommade and his slick retro look.

Several churches in the OTR area that were not initially approached by CL are looking to see what all the buzz is about. Most are Enquirer freaks who live out of the area of their family's original home church, in the suburbs. Dale will try looking there for a few connections once the genius brothers let him out of stir. ---Wolverine, Jr.

The Drop Inn Center is going to move, and they won't be the only shelter moving from OTR. Cincinnati is about to get a brand new homeless corridor.

I think you are correct to conclude that the Drop-In Center will be moving, however, it concerns me when anon 8:49 made the statement that “Cincinnati is going to get a brand new homeless corridor”. The last thing that Cincinnati needs is another area that is heavily concentrated with social service agencies. Look at what concentration did to OTR. And, I'll address the critics now who contend that social service agencies are in OTR because that is where the need is. No. The need is in OTR because that is where the social service agencies are. Break them up. Fix the problem and address the conflict between agency placement and economic development.

I bet that dastardly Dale Mallory has something to do with this...Oh wait, probably not.

I think all of you belong in the nut house.

Dale did want to relocate several social service agencies from Over The Rhine and put them across the street from 3 schools.

People that read this blog are familiar with CityLink and the current social service situation in Cincinnati. It is a big issue, and a relevant topic for discussion.

If D4S could make a dishonest buck on it, he would be behind it.
The scope of Dale's corruption may be difficult for the public to understand. Rest assured that the truth squad now has tons of evidence that is being organized.
The dirt on Dale4S, CityLink, Cathy Norris,D Phoenice, Heimlich, Damon Lynch III, the Beatty wing of the Mallory Mafia is all a matter of record and the truth squad now has these records.
No wonder H Clevelad hired a high priced lawyer to stonewall. At least he knows he never wants these records to see the light of day.
Tick, tick, tick, tick......D4S days are numbered.

Blanchard, you are so right on. These social service agencies flood City Council Chambers when it gets to be budget appropriations time so they can suck up the Community Development/Social Services money. Every biennial budget, their briefcases get bigger & wider, wanting more money.

The horrible piece of this business is there doesn't seem to be a shred of accountability. You have one drunk agency 2 doors up the street from another drunk agency, squaring off & begging for the largest dollar.

It seems with each passing year, the Drop Inn Center continues in a downward spiral in failure. Just because you've got people in dire need of help concentrated in one place, a single area, doesn't mean you're immune.

Those who utilize the Drop Inn Center migrate into the neighborhoods, mix in with the local criminality & create a host of problems on their own. As harsh as it may sound, I believe we are going to have to revert back to institutions to help these folks with their illnesses, addictions, and whatever else prevents them from functioning in today's society.

Moreover, someway, somehow, that damned Ohio Parole Board has to be put on due notice that Hamilton County will no longer take parolees from Cuyahoga County, Franklin County & all the rest of the counties. That has to stop.

Just remember - it's not always the local colors who've been peeing in your petunia patch & leaving the outside water faucet dripping while you're at work.

And you can bet your last dime that if there's money to be made on re-locating the Drop Inn Center, you'll see D4S at the front of the line, elbowing Dickie Weiland & several of the other infamous reprobates.

Great to see that Cincinnati is on the cutting edge of drawing homeless and sex offenders from all over the region. Who in the hell called this a conservative town?

Social service agencies don't harm communities. The welfare experiment has been a great success.

Dear Andrew,
I agree.
The walfare experiment has succeded in creating a permanent underclass of single mother households.
It's created a well paid breed of Poverty Pimps such as Dale4sale that can get his emoluments from the empowerment zone.
It's created Bill Mallory Sr. that has his fiefdom of the Mallory Center, his many wives/families and children with no rules other than "I'm the Mallory Mafia chief"
It's done a great job keeping all the riff raff segrigated in the downtown basin so that good people can feel safe in da burbs.
You da man Andrew, you are right on target.

Speaking of the homeless, the bums & hobos - there's more info that's been filed on Howdy's case B0603223. Take a gander at answer to Motion for Discovery & the Bill of Particulars. Howdy went down to City Hall locked & loaded that day - golf clubs & a lead pipe for back up support.

In addition, those guys running Media Bridges & Norwood Community TV were issued a summons to produce tapes of the Joy & 'Baka shows. Which, of course, flies directly in the face of this little piece of lying bulls$%t I've picked up from N8's 5/5/06 blog:

"I'm expecting delivery of a videotape recorded last night night which I'm told shows Joy R. Rolland urging viewer of Media Bridges to burn down Junebug's Barbecue and Steakhouse and kill several people in the Black community.

I'll have more to say about Joy's communication of terroristic threats after I watch the tape."

First, he was only expecting the tapes because Kenny signed the summons. Second, N8 won't have a damned thing to say about it because it's Court evidence.

BTW, the trial is scheduled to start 7/5/06.

Also, got the laugh of my life the other day in the Court House. It was N8's casual day in the hallways. Had his daughter's blue jeans on with the only business shirt he owns - that white shirt that's 90 sizes too big for his feminine body. Gawd, he looked like Michael Jackson in those threads that didn't fit properly. His gut was pooching over the top of the jeans (too much of that greasy ghetto cookin down in the back room where the hits are ordered up & deals are brokered). Seeing him swivel down the hall, tagging after Kenny was an absolute scream. Yeah, the little girly boy swivels.

Anon 2:56, you're partially correct in that welfare has created a permanent class of single mothers. However, it hasn't kept the riff raff out of the 'burbs completely.

Section 8 housing has seen to that. Baby Mama gets a free place for herself & the kids, at our expense. Then she has the baggy pants dope dealer with the crack beater car that sports permanent temp tags & a couple of guns move in as her "huband". It's not husband in proper language. In ghetto speak, it's huband.

Then all he## breaks loose in that neighborhood. Baggy pants has all his baggy pants hoodlum friends stopping by at all hours. Then he starts beating up Baby Mama, the cops show up at all hours & by the end of the month, the community is completely gone down the dumper. The hoodlum friends have taken over the sidewalks to transact business, their Baby Mamas move in & the crime rate soars.

And when these sh$%heads get busted & show up in Court, they sit in the back row & get in a pi$$ing contest with their associates about who's living the largest with their respective bitches & ho's. No kidding. They brag about how they snuck in under the lease in these Sec 8 properties & how good they got it -doesn't cost 'em a dime, because of Baby Mama. And no, Baby Mama doesn't get their money. It gets put away for bail, then Baby Mama goes Downtown to fork over the money.

Andrew, you are the man. It is a great society we live in these days. We gotta think for them, pay them to exist, coddle them, pamper them, show dignity & respect - we'll have to wipe their a$$es next. That's on the horizon, no doubt.

Dear Collared Greens, thank you, thank you very much.

It was funny to watch the girly boy think he was all that, including apples, peaches & pumpkin pie, swiveling down the hall, all puffed up & important. However, we all know he's not a law clerk (never could get his pea brain around school). It's good to know that we're all dialled into the fact he's Lawson's little copy & phone boy & the bullhorn messenger for the Mallory Mafia. A perfect example of a Stepinfetchit.

I drove down Linn Street this afternoon and noticed that Junebug's Bar-B-Q restaurant was closed and Remax signs were posted on the building. Nothing on the MLS yet.

Any known reason/s?

I noticed it too.
Also the big "lawdog" sign and the one with Junebug and Lawson was taken down.
Business has been in the crapper since the boycot and the police attention.
That dive used to be a drug haven, but Oba's killing put too much attention to it.
Where is D4S going to get his free meals if they close?
Where is he going to sodomized his tard N8 and Junebug?
Where does the neighborhood scum go for their afternoon high?

Everyone, put the beers, wine coolers & cocktails down. Go to the can if you have to. There's more going on.

Xerox Corp. filed a breach of contract action within the past few weeks on Kenny Lawson, the infamous lame a$$. It's to the tune of over $36Gs. Case A0603848.

The dumb bas can't even make the payments on the copier machine in the office! Word to the wise: lock up your copiers or make sure your copier key is in a safe place. Swiveling N8 may be busting into your place to do the copying!!

Cheezy! If it weren't for bad luck, limpy Lawson wouldn't have anything. What is this - the 4th legal action filed on him this year so far? And old suits are still pending! (Gawd! No wonder N8's wearing his daughter's jeans & Howdy's white shirts to Court these days - girly boy ain't collecting a paycheck!)

Does Theotis Holmes or Linda W. Clement Holmes ring a bell with anyone? They own the paper company OFRP Ltd. that owns the Junebug property.

I don't see any papers filed by Beatty or on behalf of the Junebug greasy ghetto cookin to understand if he's filed bankruptcy, behind in his rent or some sort of other legal action. But I'll keep watching.

In the meantime, I'll drop a couple of casual remarks & see if I can get some chatter.

Sorry for the late post, but I just found this blog about the Drop In Center.

Yes, they were approached by a Mallory recently and shown a very visible site that is on the edge of queensgate as a suggested move-to site. It is a great site, but the Drop In Center said thanks but no thanks, we like being next to Music Hall harassing the art patrons, and close to our funding source, City Hall; we own our property free and clear, and we 'taint leaving without a knock-out drag down fight, and we aim to win.

So don't gloat yet.
