Agency director's purchase questioned

Agency director's purchase questioned
Empowerment member quits
BY GREGORY KORTE ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Click the link above to go to the latest Enquirer article.

Some tidbits:

"Property records show that Harold L. Cleveland took ownership of the building at 1800 Linn St. on May 26, after a previous owner of the property fell behind in payments on a $158,000 Empowerment Corp. loan. The sale price was $137,000 - more than twice the Hamilton County auditor's appraisal."

I don't know what the building is worth, and it is quite possible that significant improvements have been made to it. But just as buildings that are over insured are more likely to burn down, mortgages for double the value are more likely to come up in default.

I didn't realize that the Empowerment Corporation made loans so that people could be landlords. It isn't always clear what they are supposed to be doing, and maybe that is part of the problem.

"Cleveland got ownership of the building through an anonymous buyer in a transaction brokered by attorney George L. Xanders. That same day, Cleveland applied for a 2.5 percent tax break for owner-occupants."

Maybe somebody can fill me in. Theo Holmes owned this building. He sold it to someone who sold it on the very same day to Harold Cleveland. You can look at the property records at the auditor's website. The way it gets listed out, Theo sold it to the Christopher H Hurlburt Trust for $137,000. The Hurlburt turns around and transfers the property to Cleveland and no amount is listed. Somebody tell me what the hell is going on there. That is freaky. Everything happens for a reason, and there is a reason they structured the deal in just that way. I am interested to know why. Please chime in with any thoughts.

"That same day,Cleveland applied for a 2.5 percent tax break for owner-occupants."

It looks like Harold Cleveland is going to be our new neighbor, at least in the same sense that loud fathead Markus Jenkins is a West End Resident. The resolve of these people to bilk the taxpayer out of every red penny is impressive. Cleveland isn't going to live there, but he damn sure isn't going to pay his taxes either. I surprised he didn't apply for the homestead tax exemption for the elderly. What a fraud.

And consider these transactions are how they conduct business when they already know the spotlight is upon them. Imagine what they do when they know nobody is looking.

"Steven P. Goodin, the Empowerment Corp. lawyer charged with recovering potentially millions in overdue loans the agency gave to small, inner-city businesses, confirmed the Empowerment Corp. is trying to collect overdue loan payments from C and H Renaissance. All told, the agency loaned more than $2.4 million to small businesses. About 84 percent of that portfolio is behind in payments, he said."

"It's a classic Cincinnati political boondoggle, and it's going to end up in classic Cincinnati political finger pointing," said Goodin. He's the author of a strongly worded June 14 report to the Empowerment Corp. this month that found "troubling aspects" to the agency's $40,000-a-year contract with Dale Mallory - a candidate for state representative, former president of the West End Community Council and brother of Mayor Mark Mallory."

84% of the portfolio is behind. Payments, contracts and loans are made to insiders, relatives and friends. That isn't a "classic Cincinnati political boondoggle", it is criminal. It is "Classic Genesis" on a massive scale.

Keep in mind that Goodin was hired by the C.E.C, he is not independent.

The more things change the more they stay the same.
George "junebug" Beatty was in the middle of Genesis. He and killer bro were on the EZ board. Now he is back on and the main man on loan approval.
JB is a crook and he and his wife are stealing every last cent.
Monk and Korte, thank you for shining the light on these crooks.

Everyone, we've gone over this Chris Hurlburt business in a previous post. He's an attorney with George Xanders. Xanders deals primarily in the legalese of real estate. Xanders' wife owns the Dominion Bldg., 808 Elm St., where the Kenny Lawson law offices are.

The only thing I can think of, as I don't know a great deal about the legal world of property buying/selling - also see flipping - is that Hurlburt held the property in trust, hence, Trustee, until Cleveland had his financing in order to purchase this dump of a building.

However, this is a huge story. I'm so sure Joe Deters' boys are just smacking their chops over this. But, like Monk, Korte has held back on the Genesis threads that bind all these larcenists together. Hopefully, that will come toward the end of the big bang.

Truth Squad fans, we're getting there! When someone finds out when the next Board meeting of what's left of the EZ folks, please post it. There needs to be a hearty representation present to get a thorough accounting of just exactly what degree of felonious activity we're dealing with here.

Are they going to jail like they did back with Genesis? Face it, you punks got nothing but hot air. They collectively won't spend one day in jail, and Dale Mallory is going to be the next State Representative. The Beatty's sent a message to City Hall when they laid Kabaka at their doorstep. Don't expect anyone to help you. The investigation into Dale's checks is going to go away. You guys need to clue in on who is running this town.

N8, you little twerp, we know who's running this town & it certainly isn't you. You're only the little lawn ornament for the Mafia. My little poodle takes a pee on you on every passing.

Along with Howdy, Dale's going to the state all right. The state joint. And you'll be going, too.

We don't need any help from you. You aren't a sharp blade in the drawer. In other words, dummies don't need to respond.

Clue N8: the players in this latest racket gone sour are the exact same ones in the Genesis jazz & you're all going down.

With that, get over in your psycho space & do your ranting. You're finished in this 'burg.

It's interesting that N8 finds time to post on this blog when he can't seem to keep his own blog up to date.
The high interest in this blog is self evident. Why else would N8 and the Dean keep coming back.
The media get leads here. The Mallory Mafia tries to learn who their moles are.
City Council gets to see who to audit next.
and CityLink folks get to find out that their leaders are proven liers.
Blog administrator.....great job.

Open Letter to N8:

Slick folks got to your blog before you could pull off the little nugget of info that put you in close proximity to the scene of the murder. This is common knowledge.

Now, pay close attention, N8. An individual has proof positive to exactly where you were on that fateful day. Extremely damning evidence. Completely admissable in every Court in the world. The hilarious part is watching your girly body flinch at the first crack of gunfire.

As time progresses, a representative will be in touch with you about this material. This representative knows where you live, knows where you hang out & the company you keep. It is in your best interests, obviously, to cooperate.

Until such time the representative calls the meeting, you are advised to cease & desist harrassing the Truth Squad & their supporters.

Anon 5:32, you've summed it up correctly. Dean & H8 can't get enough of this blog. The Truth Squad is just smoking them up like cheap cigars. H8's all blabbered out about racist crap & Dean's running stories that no one cares about.

Truth Squad is BREAKING NEWS in this city & those in power KNOW it. Every City & County office checks here daily for the updates.

And H8 said we need not expect help. Hah! We've got Dan Monk on the left flank & Korte on the right. It doesn't get any better than that. H8 wishes he had a back up support team like that.

Again, Truth Squad, this is excellent work, let's keep it rolling!

Hot air... hmm. Nate, is that why your daughter's jeans don't fit you correctly? Is that why you have to wear Howdy the Hitman's white Sunday go-to-meetin' shirts while swiveling down the Court House hallways behind Kenny? It's you who's full of hot air. One giant fart would make you disappear.

There are so many reasons D4S was wrong to work for CityLink/EZ.
One interesting factoid: 800 Bank Street is NOT IN THE EMPOWERMENT ZONE!
Just one more falsification for D4S's criminal resume.

Truth Squad, I had a bit of a fleeting thought on this Hulburt-Xanders business with the Junebug Emporium building. We've got George "bro of Howdy the Hitman" at the center. We've got Thaddeus Holmes, the building's owner in one corner, & real estate futures hedgeman & EZ confidence man Harold Cleveland in the other corner. All these birds know each other & are curled up in the same cookie jar with other familiar criminals.

To make this appear that the real estate transaction took place at an arm's length distance & to appear very legal, squeaky clean, Hurlburt enters the stage as the joker in this dramatic comedy who has no interest in any of the parties whatsoever no dibs on the stack of bricks & has no business ties, no social connections at all to the above named parties.

You have some very polished, swank shysters out there who do this to avoid the very long arm of the Federales, seeing every Prosecuting Attorney across the land is hot & heavy after these property flippers.

Some of you who have knowledge of real estate transactions might want to jump in here. Like I said, it's just a thought & it's my take on the situation.

And they think we're so confounded stupid. Yeah, right.

The people voted for Dale Mallory. Maybe you shouldn't have run a fat and ugly lesbian against a historically black Mallory seat.

Dale won't be in jail, he will be in the Statehouse. And CityLink will be going where it is most needed, on Bank Street in the West End. You can't stop Dale. You can't stop CityLink. All you people do is cry and whine.

I have spoken with the CityLink people, and the appeal is a done deal. That is the first real breaking news in the history of this sad blog.

N8's up at 1:44 fretting on this blog and still not tending to his own.

"You can't stop CityLink. All you people do is cry and whine.

I have spoken with the CityLink people, and the appeal is a done deal. That is the first real breaking news in the history of this sad blog. "
So N8 says the Mallory Mafia "fix" is already in. The EZ bought at least one Zoning person in Theotis Dawson. CityLink has bought Timmy Burke's clout. They bought bargain basement Dale.
So the upcoming appeal on July 20th depends on the ruling of ONE magistrate. N8 seems to believe the "fix" is in. Time will tell, but the Truth Squad will be looking at any irregularities very carefully.
This next event may be moot. Either side can appeal, amd appeal, and appeal. This thing could be is courts for years.
Of course Dale could be in jail for years for stealing WECC funds, voter fraud, EZ theft, and any number of other assorted illegalities.
I remember N8 saying Dale was going to run the March and then April WECC meetings. He then said Dale was going to win his 2 lawsuits. He said Dale would get 75% of the primary vote (got far less than 1/2, the minute margin was in Queensgate where Dale spent his EZ money to manufacture votes). N8's predictive track record is a counter indicator of reality.
Did anyone notice in the mayor race and in the primary, Mallorys get a last minute mystery surge from one late miracle district?
Having Daddy and 1/2 bro joe in key election positions does help.
The world according to N8 is quite strange.....but the Truth Squad must never forget that rules and laws do not apply to CityLink, the Mallorys, EZ, or Burke.
As we shine the light on their corruption, they will be slithering around, figuring out how to buy,lie or extort a victory.
It's not too late for republicans or democrats to adjust who is on the ballot. Poast address issues and Dale's published legal and ethical issues leave questions about who will run in November. Hell, Tarbell, Bolton could be the republican/democrat candidates for all we know. That would be a much better race than the one we have now.

3:28 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

"having Daddy and 1/2 bro joe in key election positions does help".
Don't forget 3M. On May 2nd, 3M RAN all D4S's operation. He got his city hall men in black minions out on the road and flooded every polling place with their $100/day workers.
D4S was clueless as usual and 3M's posse was pissed that they had to work so had for a squeaker for the criminal brother.
Dale got~2,000 votes
Eve got ~2,000 votes.
2 other dems totaled ~1,000 votes
Poast got ~1,000
Barnes got~1,000
So of the ~7,000 primary votes, Dale gets ~2,000.
Dale outspends Eve 6 to 1, and wins by 100 questionable Queensgate votes?
That's the "political dynasty" N8 is bragging about. Dale could barely win before the WECC theft news was out. It was before the EZ fraud/corruption was published. Dale will have ugly news every week from now till he is in jail. Are these realities acknowledged in N8's world? I didn't think so.

Woo Hoo! The Mallory house of cards is on its way to falling down. This story puts paid to N8's noctural rantings. Not that he has any street cred in this 'burg.

I'm trying to have faith here that Berding & Bortz will leave no stone, including the tiniest pebble, unturned in this segment of the investigation.

N8 up & crackberrying at 1:44AM? Apparently he doesn't have much to do at the Lawson office, & all that duck s#$t about family, getting his GED & community work is what it is - duck s#$t. He was no doubt waiting for his dope delivery boys to cruise down Crack Alley in Northside.

Memo to N8: you've got a lot of nerve calling out individuals because of their appearance & personal preferences. A lot of nerve. You really are a superficial piece of crap, aren't you? Get a decent mirror & take a good look at yourself. You look exactly like last week's blown cookies. Get a life & get off this blog. You're going down, midget.

Unfortunately, Fat Timmy can't pull Jail4Dale from the ticket. Big Daddy Mallory is in the backroom calling all the shots. Timmy does as he is ordered.

My money is on Bortz & Berding to firmly establish fiscal mismanagement at EZ & I'm not afraid to bet there will be other shocking truths that will be unearthed. I'm expecting these boys to keep digging until they find something concrete they can toss to Joe Deters or the Federal's G-men.

However, I'm not thrilled that Dave Rager turned this over to Deborah Holston. From the outside, this appears to have a twinge of conflict of interest.

The EZ money is WELL SPENT.
The Ez could take an unemployed, impeached, wife beating drugged out pimp and turn him into the favorite to win the 32nd house seat! Now THAT is a success story!

That was an odd statement. The Beatty's "sent a message" by gunning down unarmed Kabaka. Does he know that for sure? I thought Beatty was claiming self-defense and that he was afraid for his life. Nate, and you have to assume he's got inside information because of where he works and who he knows, has shot the self-defense theory in the ass. Even he doesn't believe it. A "message" takes pre-meditation.

Run a new search on Kenny Lawson on the clerk's website. Yet another client is suing for the money Ken and N8 stole.

With Lawson's history of losing every high-profile and probably low-profile case--Crystal White (his mishandling even caused a new law making a second charge against the "unborn'), Dante Person, and those foolish home invaders that would have gotten 5 years w/ any other attorney, Beatty better be scraping those ill-gotten gains together to buy himself decent counsel. Add Nate spilling the beans as the firm's spokesperson and the laughable "car is actually your home" theory, and it doesn't look good.

That's OK about N8 running his mouth. His little sound bites went to the Prosecutor's Office. N8 has his usual client privilege info, but, he's dancing on the edge of telling the full story. N8 was in close proximity to City Hall the day Howdy pulled the trigger. Very close proximity, so close in fact, he was the one who gave the haul ass signal. Howdy came flying around the corner & we know the rest of the story. N8's up to his eyeballs in conspiracy on this murder charge.

N8 had it out there on his whacko blog that he was in the area. Fast folks printed that off & sent it on in the right direction. Then, N8 being the banana brained chimp that he is, realized he gave himself away, redacted the sentence. It's too late.

N8 being the signal boy has just rather recently been whispered about. Now there's more open talk, as the trial is scheduled to start July 5, which will get pushed out to probably September or October. Time will tell when the Prosecutors take a good look at his "sent from my Blackberry by Cincinnati Bell Wireless".

At any rate, this case on Howdy is blown to shreds. Lawson can thank N8 for running his mouth. You can believe the authorities are watching him & they monitor his blog, even though he's gone silent.

The other story that's been dropped is that N8's back in school to churn up the banana brain so that he can go on to the State with Jail4Dale & leave Lawson to handle the local contingent. (Gawd, don't drop your beers or wet your pants over that one.)

Apparently, N8's the only one who takes himself seriously. Good thing, because no one else does.

Anon 3:00: those home invaders hurt some of those elderly folks they hit up for cash & credit cards. They pushed the old women down & took their stuff. With that elderly man, both of them jumped him, roughed him up bad & roughed his sick wife up. The wife will never recover from this. Those a$$holes got the 60 years each they deserved. They're appealing, but the neighborhoods will go to the Appeals Court at the time of the Merit Hearing. The priceless moment was hearing Kenny beg for mercy for his client. It was rich. The wailing, crying violins were in complete harmony. At the time of the sentencing, I wished I would have brought some cheese & crackers to go with the whine.

It was amazing how quickly Nate removed that piece from his blog, I also got the chance to read it but not copy it. What's more amazing is that he put it up to begin with. If he ever robbed a bank he'd be the bone head that wrote the money demands on his own deposit slip, giving his name and address. Ken should have a talk with his gopher

Speaking of adresses, The Dean aka jason haap will be needing a new one. Anyone know why Judge Nelson recused himself from that case?

"Yet another client is suing for the money Ken and N8 stole."

Yeah, I think you're referring to that case that Xerox brought against Kenny for breach of contract on the copier agreement. That case is going to Dennis Helmick (re-elect to Common Pleas Court). This case has already been decided in favor of Xerox. Count on it.

That hole in Kenny's pocket gets bigger each day. No wonder he's in with the Mafia - boy needs a paycheck to keep up appearances.

3:37 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 4:31, don't know why Judge Nelson recused himself. Can put out some sniffers. However, I believe he's got a couple of trials due to start soon. That's generally a start to stepping away from the case.

I can't imagine Judge Nelson ever moving in the same circles even for a slight moment with Jason Haap. Something of that sort would jeopardize a decision. Judge Nelson is a class act. Gorgeous family. The man's a scholar.

"Speaking of adresses, The Dean aka jason haap will be needing a new one."

What Haap has done to his family is unforgiveable. He's also in the arrears on property taxes to the tune of $1,292 & chump change.

He's critized the system for so long, I guess he believed he could get by without paying the bills. At any rate, the case is going to Judge Niehaus & this will probably get dragged out until Christmas.

Granted, everyone at some point has been down on the dough, but this business with Haap is an altogether different story. I feel sorry for the child. Mommy needs to wake up, take that baby & move on.

No, I meant this new one: 06CV16316

Lady suing Lawson paid her money and of course, he did nothing. Add her to the list. Why is he still not indicted?

4:59 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 5:59, that's a minor civil complaint that will be heard by a Magistrate. Lawson wouldn't necessarily be indicted on something of this sort. The lady is probably suing to get her retainer fee back, seeing Lawson did nothing, as usual.

I hope & pray this lady is determined to see this through & really puts the weenie to Lawson. Richly deserved. About time.

He's too busy with these hoodlum punks that he can deal out for whatever the prosecuting attorney tosses out there in numbers. I guess he thinks he's going to win big with Howdy. We all know that's not going to happen. His little office boy has been bopping his chops too much. And Joe Deters' office is loving it.

Thanks for giving me the new case number. Geez! This is damned near once a week with Lawson. Before you know it, he'll be tied up in Court on his own cases.

7:43 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 5:59 & 8:43, it's a Small Claims Court Case that will go before a Magistrate. The sum involved has indications of perhaps being a downpayment for legal services, a retainer.

Lawson wouldn't undergo a Grand Jury indictment for something of this sort, unfortunately.

However, if I were the Claimant in this case, that lady, I would certainly file a formal complaint with the Ohio Bar & the Cincinnati Bar.

What this 2 thug who has a license to practice law (I'm still trying to get my head around that - the guy's looney tunes)does to people is reprehensible. You'd think by now folks would know what a lousy attorney he really is.

All:

Christopher Hurlburt here. Xanders & Xanders, Co., L.P.A. handled the transaction in question on behalf of Fifth Third Bank--not on behalf of any of the other parties involved in the transfer. Contrary to the Enquirer's assertion, George Xanders did not "broker" this deal, and we requested that the Enquirer run a correction at the time the article appeared (it never did). We received a referral from Fifth Third--one of many that month--and we closed the transaction.

FYI: "Trustee" middlemen are very common in real estate transactions, and if you search the Recorder's website you will find me as trustee on numerous deals. You will also find every other real estate attorney in town listed the same way. It has no significance, and it is not indicative of "flipping"--a term of art that denotes transferring a property in rapid succession to hide a fraudulent inflation of that property's worth.
